Cambridge MYC was pleased to awarded the MYA Radio League’s Step Up Trophy at the MYA AGM on 1st December, which is for the most improved club in terms of participation in open meetings and championship events.
Ironically Cambridge MYC’s increased participation has partly been the result of the club being without permanent water for much of 2018. Faced with nowhere to sail and not wanting to give up, members have been travelling to neighbouring clubs to sail and to compete in district championships.
Club Commodore Nick Lee said “For a club with only 6 or 7 members and no water, we have really appreciated the warm welcome that we have had from other district clubs this year. We have enjoyed sailing in bigger fleets and have certainly benefited from sailing with some of the top sailors in the District. We still desparately want our own water and the search continues into 2019, but whatever happens you can expect to see Cambridge MYC members ‘on the road’ in 2019.”
